Approximately 1 ½ furlongs out, Aragon Castle (IRE), placed sixth, edged left-handed as New Image (GB), unplaced, shifted right-handed causing Elnajmm (GB), unplaced, to become slightly short for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Aragon Castle (IRE).
On the run to the line, the winner, Thunder Run (IRE), shifted left-handed before being corrected carrying Mirsky (GB), placed second, slightly off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Thunder Run (IRE).
The Clerk of the Scales objected to New Image (GB), unplaced, ridden by Oisin Murphy, and trained by David O’Meara, on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 8st 12lb having weighed out at 9st.
Murphy, Murphy’s Valet, O’Meara and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.
O’Meara was fined £750 as following a saddling error, New Image (GB) was resaddled with the incorrect saddle pad resulting in Murphy weighing in 2lbs underweight.
New Image (GB) was disqualified.
Following the race, Tom Marquand reported that Elnajmm (GB), unplaced, hung left-handed.
