Dundalk Wed, 27th Nov, 2024  Tribal Star He was a very expensive yearling from Godolphin, we bought him in July at the Horses In Training Sale. He's a big, raw horse - he's a huge horse, (by) Sea The Stars, takes a little bit of time. I think he will be a lovely horse to look forward to next year in staying handicaps. I think he could be a real staying horse for next year - he's just a big, raw baby and he is only going to get stronger. We just didn't make enough use of him here the last night. The plan today was always to make sure it was a test. In all fairness, Andy Oliver's horse came at him but he wasn't for stopping, he went on again. There's a big possibility he will go over hurdles at Christmas, maybe Leopardstown. We haven't done a whole pile (of schooling) with him as yet, but he'll be learning fairly quick!

Dundalk Fri, 27th Sep, 2024  Lady Kai That was great. Shane Foley rode her work the other morning and felt she was in great nick, he had to go to Newmarket today, . This was the ideal race for her and she got a great ride. The plan was to be in the first four or five and going past the stands the first time she was third last. I thought 'were in trouble here' and was wondering if she wasn't handling the surface but he said they were just going too quick. He said there were a lot of horses in trouble half a mile out and she was only starting to get going. When she got upsides up the straight, she's really bred to stay being by Sea The Stars out of a mare who is related to Sir Percy. She has a great pedigree. It's lovely to win another one with her for her pedigree and Mick is delighted. He rang straight away. We might be able to squeeze another one out of her. I'm sure he's going to be covering her in the spring and she's a lovely filly to have. It all went wrong for her last year, she wasn't 100 percent and never happy in herself. She came back this year a far sweeter mare and has been very consistent in her last couple of runs. She was maybe a bit unlucky the last day in Navan.

Listowel Wed, 25th Sep, 2024  Sea Of Sands It was a nice start. He's a horse we got from Germany but he's had a lot of issues,. He just started to come right in the last couple of months and I thought we'd pick out a nice maiden hurdle for him. He did it nicely. He jumped the first well but I think that was probably the only one he jumped well!. He'll probably have to learn. He was just a bit keen as a lot of those Flat horses are. We'll look at mixing it with him. There might be a nice Flat race in him before the season ends.

Punchestown Tue, 17th Sep, 2024  Star Harbour He's lazy and it was totally an inadequate trip for him,. We had him in Chester at the weekend, but the ground went against him for that Listed race. We threw him into this race when it was small entries, it was a bit of an afterthought. The conditions suited, but we knew it was a bit short. Adam got after him early doors and he gave him a good ride. He just got there and it's great for the lads, he's been a great money-spinner for them. He wasn't a cheap horse when we bought him, but the fun they've got out of him has been unreal. That's his third win of the year and he had a very good run the last day at Dundalk carrying a lot of weight. He'll probably go back for the Diamond Stakes there in two weeks time. We might give him a break after that. We've threatened to run him over hurdles a couple of times - we pulled him out at Down Royal because of the ground, but at some stage he will make another appearance over hurdles. He'll want nice autumn or spring ground.

Curragh Sun, 15th Sep, 2024  Hanalia Shane is not slow as he sent me a voice message straight after Ben got injured last week saying 'if you need me for anything over Champions Weekend..'. He gave her a great ride as she needs to be settled and if you put her in the race too early, sometimes she can get up on the bridle. I told him 'the more relaxed she is, the better she'll finish' and while we didn't plan to be as far back, he said that was just the way it happened. She has a good turn of foot when she relaxes. I thought she had improved from her last run here a couple of weeks ago. I might have left her one gallop short with the eye on this race but I did think she'd nearly win the last time. With the little bit of rain last night and the extra furlong, I think this is the ideal trip for her, we were coming here quietly confident. There are a lot of good fillies in Ireland at the moment. I just had a feeling that today was going to be her day and with that extra furlong I knew she'd get home well. I was just delighted to see the line coming in time.

Tipperary Fri, 9th Aug, 2024  Star Harbour he has been a great horse, the lads have had a lot of fun with him. We had made entries for him next week but that win might stop us running him, as he'll get a 7lb penalty. A win is a win though and we're delighted. Adam gave him a good ride and while I thought we were in trouble early on, he would prefer further, although in the past had been placed in Lincolns and Galway Miles. He isn't slow-slow but is a typical Sea The Stars being a late developer. He is a high-class fun horse and is well handicapped over hurdles so will probably see a hurdle again before the year is out.

Killarney Wed, 17th Jul, 2024  Lady Kai It is great to get one for Mick who has persevered with her,. She always showed hints of ability and while we thought she'd win a race, she let me down a few times. We ended up stopping with her and giving her a complete break and this year she has come back better and stronger. Her work was good and had shown that she would be a different filly this year. She is bred to win an Oaks let along a 45-65 but at least she has won now and it is important she has won. You'd imagine there's another one in her and while she is in at Leopardstown tomorrow, it wouldn't be fair to run her.
