Roscommon Mon, 25th Sep, 2023  Showman He had a nice run over the winter at Punchestown for Keith Donoghue and a lovely run the last day,. I suppose after his last run he had a good chance here in a non-winners race. It's great for Chris Blair, a new owner to the yard, and for Eamonn who has been lucky for us. He's a tough horse but he actually lost a bit of interest, his runs on the Flat he was showing no spark at all and the jumping has really helped him. He'll be a nice horse to tip away with.

Roscommon Tue, 4th Jul, 2023  Mr King He's a lovely horse and it's a great family. He's just filling into himself and is a work in progress. We gelded him after his Gowran Park run and then ran him back quick. He's a horse that, mentally, has to mature - you could see him there in the stalls. That's the last time you'll see him over a mile-and-two. Gary said they just went too slow and he'll love a true-run race, which would suggest he'll like a better race, over a mile-and-a-half. We'll take baby steps with him, knowing the family next year is another year.

Curragh Sat, 1st Jul, 2023  Mashhoor It's really very special when Tommy Dowd comes to you in the parade ring and says 'I'm more nervous now than I was on All-Ireland day'. I said 'ah come on, sure we don't have anything to do anymore — it's up to Ben now!'. In fairness to the horse, you have to say he has improved immensely. He picked up a little injury last year and I suppose it stood to him this year. He's been very straightforward this year and the races have come for him at the right time. There was no pace today and I said to Ben to let him roll along. He's a leader, he leads the string at home. I knew when they turned in that they weren't going to get to him because he wouldn't stop. He won over a mile-and-a-half last time. It was a great ride. It's great for a syndicate to rock up on Derby weekend and be competitive in a very competitive Group 3. You can see the enjoyment it gives people, racing has that.

Leopardstown Thu, 8th Jun, 2023  Buttons We're delighted with her. We rushed her a little bit to get her out because we thought she could be a Chesham filly, but Ryan just said she's too babyish for that. We'll just pull back and give her a bit of time before we go again. Ryan said even though she's by Kingman, she will stay and seven would be her minimum. She was green turning and everything. She's a very well-bred filly. Wayne's filly (Lordan on Content) finished very strong and she's a well-bred filly as well.

Gowran Park Mon, 5th Jun, 2023  Knight To King He's a really nice colt, he had been working exceptionally well. All the family take a little bit of time and we're in no hurry with him,. He's come forward in the last few weeks. He's a very good-actioned horse, so I didn't bother with him in the spring on heavy ground. Please God, we've lots to look forward to. It's a great family for us and he's always shown us talent. He was very immature, mentally and physically but he's coming forward nicely. I'll have a chat with Maurice Regan and we'll decide where we go with him. I won't make any decision until I see how he comes home and comes out of the race. Obviously, we'll go into stakes level with him now, there are many ideas in my mind. He's very straightforward and I said if there was no pace to make the running on him. The one thing we didn't want was a messy race with no pace. He was out there in front, he has a lot to learn. I think he jumped the road and Chris said he looked at everything. He'll learn a lot today and he's a real good colt in the making. He quickened up the Old Vic the other day like a horse that would be very effective, even, over six furlongs.

Curragh Sat, 27th May, 2023  Mashhoor The plan was always to come back on Guineas weekend, we had a great time here last year. When he got a rating of 102 this looked like the perfect race although 1m4f was a little unknown. The horse has been training really well at home and showing all the right signs that he had improved. I'm really delighted the way he won today. He can win at 1m2f and now he can get 1m4f so there are plenty of races for him. We went to Ascot last year and the ground was firm, he probably didn't enjoy that. We'll make an entry for him but there are plenty of options.

Cork Wed, 17th May, 2023  Admiral Nelson He had a nice winter campaign, Katelyn Bailey was gaining experience on him and he was kept fit over the winter. We gave him a break and freshened him up,. I was very encouraged by his run at Gowran the last day. Donagh felt that seven is his trip, somewhere like here with a straight track and riding him handy from a nice draw. We were quite pleased when we saw this race. Unfortunately we couldn't go to Wetherby a couple of days ago because of travel problems but it worked out grand in the end. He's a fine strong horse, he was favourite once upon a time for the Coventry, for Aidan O'Brien. He just hasn't lived up to his name, he's not as tough as Admiral Nelson himself. He's a grand horse and we sweetened him up. It's great that he's got a win. He owed me that as he gave me a nasty kick putting him through stalls on Saturday morning. I'll forgive him for that now. It's great for Jonny Hayes, he's with me a good while now and has had a good few winners. He'll get a good kick out of that.
