FormscanBy Tom Weekes - SAMUI is second-string on jockey bookings but easily won by 17 lengths on quick ground at Killarney and while some rain is forecast, it is hoped he can continue to progress, being just a five-year-old. Prior to Killarney he had been beaten in three smart handicaps hurdles and while he needs fast ground to be at his best, possesses a flat rating of 102 now and thus now appears nicely treated reverting back to hurdles. Stablemate and recent flat winner Set Point finished seventh in last year's renewal, when rated 2lb higher and should get involved while Tounsivator is interesting as he contests his first handicap hurdle and drops in grade from his most recent jumps' races. Well treated flat Listed winner Enfranchise was due to race for the second time this week on Wednesday.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards that at entry have run at least three times in hurdle races (140 = 11st 12lbs)Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race or hurdle races after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper.

Quotes on Fiveonefive (IRE)
He’s a nice horse that lad. His first run was behind A Dream To Share but he just lost his way. I think he’s just a big, weak horse and it took him a bit of time to get going. We treated him for a few issues and he’s come back after a good break showing plenty of ability. He likes that good ground and Denis gave him a peach. I bought him for €1,500 two years ago and he has two lovely owners Tony (Lagan) and Salvo (Giannini). He could run in the likes of Killarney and Galway over the summer. After Fiveonefive (IRE) finished 1st at Tipperary on Thu, 18th May 2023 2m Hcap Hurdle Good to Yielding

Quotes on Man O Work (IRE)
After his fall in Leopardstown (at the Dublin Racing Festival in February) his confidence level has come right back through the roof. Things didn’t go to plan today, they often don’t in these big fields, and we had to not panic and go to plan B but it’s worked out well. Plan A was to be handier. I gave him a squeeze and he winged the second last and the last. He’s an amazing little horse. He’s still a bit novicey and is still only a five-year-old. This winter went horribly for him, the ground went against him and things didn't work out. We pulled the plug, he had a lovely run when finishing second in a flat race in Tramore and this race was the plan. He likes Listowel and finished second in the Lartigue Hurdle last year but last Monday I was down here and we were debating whether to run, with all the rain that fell. We walked the track this morning and with fresh ground, decided to take our chance. He missed the break and we were hoping to be closer to the pace, but plan B came into operation and Cian didn't panic. Trainers make plans but jockeys have to be allowed use plan B and they are the ones who win races. He was brilliant, is based with Jessica Harrington and rides out for me in the afternoon. I think, eventually, we will have a crack at a nice Flat race somewhere along the line with Man O Work. After Man O Work (IRE) finished 1st at Listowel on Fri, 22nd Sep 2023 2m Hcap Hurdle Yielding to Soft

Quotes on Tounsivator (FR)
Paul said he was a bit keen but being ex-Flat you would expect that. His jumping was good bar he stood on himself after the last. To recover and win after losing all momentum was impressive. Aubrey McMahon bought him. That’s the second horse he’s run for the syndicate and they’ve both won — My Great Mate was the other one. You’d be looking for improvement when he settles and gets a cleaner round of jumping. He could be a fair horse and he’ll obviously be dual-purpose. He was going well in the autumn and Willie threw him out and gave him a break. I’m sure he’ll go for novice hurdles at Fairyhouse and Punchestown. After Tounsivator (FR) finished 1st at Naas on Sun, 25th Feb 2024 1m 7f Maiden Hurdle Soft to Heavy

Quotes on Lord Erskine (IRE)
Darragh knows him well and was very good on him. I was a bit worried about the ground but Darragh said it was no problem. I could never get him into a good race with a light weight and it was the same on the Flat. He’d a proper weight on his back today and there was a good gallop which suited him. His (late) owner Jerry Nolan was a pure gentleman. I rode winners for him and having an owner like him, you couldn’t buy them. He was easy to train for. Quotes on Samui (GB)
I was worried about the ground, which is yielding, but he went through it better than most. I was actually very nervous about my four runners due to the rain which came. Whatever happened he choked with Jack (Kennedy, jockey) the last day at Ballinrobe but it worked out today. . I don't think he is a winter horse but is definitely a type to head to Cheltenham in November. Quotes on Volantis (IRE)
The last day when Keith rode him here he thought he was going to win turning in and he got to the front early on him. He doesn't do a whole lot when he gets to the front, like he did again today. Today he said he was going to ride him like Harchibald! It was a lovely patient ride and Katie rang me straight away afterwards and said it was a peach of a ride. He's a great leaper. We bought him in the summertime after he was third in a bumper to a horse of ours, Realistic Optimism. He's turned out to be a very consistent horse and Keith said he's going to be very competitive in handicaps, a good fun horse on nice ground in the summer. We won't be rushing him and obviously with the boys (Monroe family) connection he'll definitely be going to Galway. After Volantis (IRE) finished 1st at Fairyhouse on Sat, 25th Feb 2023 2m Maiden Hurdle Yielding

Quotes on Set Point (IRE)
It was straightforward and Keith kept it simple enough. Gordon bought him at Tatts and he had gone up 9lb for his win at Downpatrick so he did well to win today. He won snug enough at the line and hopefully he will win again. He'll be kept going for the summer now and hopefully he'll keep progressing away. He is owned by Nathaniel Lacy and his wife Clodagh. Quotes on Enfranchise (IRE)
She is a filly that we always thought a lot of. She won the Oaks last year in Down Royal and she loves that ground, she galloped them into the ground. I thought she’d run well but didn’t know if she was fit enough. She was doing everything right at home. I think she’s better over two miles and I’d definitely go up in trip, rather than down in trip. There is a hurdle race in Galway that we have picked out for her and there are plenty of Group races on the Flat. She loves soft ground and I think the Group One (Prix du) Cadran in France would suit her. After Enfranchise (IRE) finished 1st at Gowran Park on Wed, 8th May 2024 1m 6f Flat Heavy

Quotes on Pigeon House (IRE)
Finally, he did it at the right time anyway,. Nico gave him a great ride, and he dropped his stick after the last so he never even hit him. We'll go to the Flat with him now, he's in a mile-and-six handicap at Gowran next week. He's been threatening to do that all winter. He probably liked that better ground, although he wasn't quick enough on it back in the autumn. He's got much stronger, he is only four still. Galway could be on our mind as well. As a young horse he showed a lot of potential and he’s after coming back off three career threatening injuries. I’ve never had a winner in Listowel before and I’ve had plenty of seconds and thirds over the past 15 years. He was in earlier in the week and I didn’t run him because of the ground. I knew he was real well coming here and on the back of the run in Galway, I was expected a big run. Everything is a bonus with him now and luckily the last year and a half he’s been very good. Quotes on Rocky Blue (IRE)
I'm just after finding out that he mightn't be qualified for the Galway Hurdle. That was my plan so we may have another plan then if he's not. Maybe he'll go for the amateur handicap or the mile-and-a-half on the Friday. There is also the other hurdle that I won twice with Top Othe Ra. He'll be going nowhere in the morning if his legs are not good because he did break down a couple of years ago. He's in on Saturday but he won't run after today. I was only going to run there if it was too firm tonight. He could be an English Cesarewitch horse, there is plenty of money in that and we could also look at York. There is probably a real good handicap on the Flat for him and a handicap over hurdles with him as well. I think he was rated 132 when he signed off as a hurdler in 2018. He's a lovely horse. He's always playful and always wants to get on with the job. After Rocky Blue (IRE) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Thu, 16th Jul 2020 1m 2f Flat Hcap Good

She's tough and when she won her bumper she was as tough as anything as well. It took her a while to get a hang of the jumping and she never really got nice ground so we put her away after her last run,. She's a lovely filly to have and it's great that she's done this. Hopefully she can pick up a bit of black-type somewhere along the way for the lads. She's not short of pace and she'll go back on the Flat as well. They'll have plenty of options with her, she won a point-to-point as well so there's no reason why she can't go either way. He were hoping he'd win in Fairyhouse but a horse ran out through a wing which upset him and he nearly fell at the second-last - only for that he'd have been a lot closer,. He has been working very well since Fairyhouse and my horses are an awful lot better now and the yard is in better form now. Sean Flanagan is great to have and gave him a lovely ride. I'd say he'll handle any ground, we told the owner to have a few pounds on so thank God it worked out. After Master Otis (IRE) finished 1st at Cork on Sat, 11th May 2024 2m 1f Hurdle Good

Quotes on Gone For Tea (IRE)
On her last two runs she was a bit keen. Getting her switched off was a big help and she finished off very well. She's a handy little filly and can sometimes get a little bit intimidated if there is anything going on ahead of her, but she was good today and I like the way she picked up from the back of the last. It probably wasn't the strongest of races but if she got a couple of pounds, hopefully she'd get into the mares' handicap hurdle at Galway and that's where we'd like to go with her. We love going to Galway and myself and my wife Ber stay down for the week and enjoy it.After Gone For Tea (IRE) finished 1st at Sligo on Sun, 7th Jul 2024 2m 1f Hcap Hurdle Good to Yielding

Quotes on Miss Fourie (IRE)
She had a lovely run in Wexford and she came on a bit from it. It is great she got that out of the way and more than likely she will head on to Galway now for something. She loves the quick ground and, in fairness, it was probably a help that Willie's (Mullins, Tina Meehan) came out of it. I was smiling then!. It is great to get a winner for the owners coming into the yard. We will have a few going to Galway - I suppose anything that runs well between now and the next few days will be lined up for Galway. We had a great Galway last year with four winners and it would be great to be going back with a few that have chances. After Miss Fourie (IRE) finished 1st at Bellewstown on Sat, 8th Jul 2023 2m 4f Maiden Hurdle Good
