FormscanBy Tom Weekes - MOONOVERCLOON has raced just four times over fences and fell recently but should compete on handicap chase debut. He has twice finished fourth at this festival meeting, finished third in a big-field Punchestown hurdle in April and has since shown good chase form. His Kilbeggan June third-placing reads well as the runner-up won on Monday and is ideally suited by conditions. Whacker Clan made a mistake and was pulled up in April's Scottish National but had previously run well at Cheltenham, when beaten a long way by the high-class, well-in winner.He is suited by conditions and, prior to Cheltenham, had won both previous chase starts. Veteran Cap Du Nord has been in excellent form competing in lesser races and should compete.

This was probably the race I should have went for at the start of the week and while the other race looked like it was cutting up, Sharjah (winner) was still in it. He came out of Tuesday's race well, we fired him out in the field yesterday and he was bucking and squealing so we said we'd take our chance. He is a tough horse and ran to a good level over hurdles. He's very quirky, he wasn't going a yard there the whole way and it was only when he got a bit of daylight he took off. Two out I didn't think I was going to win, but as soon as you pull him out he takes off. He's a hard enough ride. Some days he can be keen, he wasn't today but the last day in Galway he was, he's just hit and miss. I've always loved this horse but he is mentally fragile, although is going the right way. He jumped beautifully, having been a bit novicey last year and we rode him more positively as we wanted to try something different. hopefully he is a National type horse and you'd hope he will take a step forward with more experience as it was only his fifth run over fences. He is a pure natural with an obstacle coming to him. Paul (Nicholls, previous trainer) had a few issues with him but mentally he is coming along the whole time and I was very pleased they allowed me to take him back. He travels and jumps in this deep stuff and if that can do that, it is a big benefit to them. He's a lovely horse. We got him off Sean O'Keeffe's Dad and we were thrilled when we got him. We like him a lot and we would have been disappointed if he wasn't knocking on the door today. He'll probably go to the field for a bit of a rest as he's only five and I'd say he's on the go a long time, even before we got him. I think he could do with a rest. He had been going well and doing everything right. He was going well in a point-to-point (at Fairyhouse) when he fell and it looked good on the video anyway, we kind of bought him on the strength of that. I was very confident coming up here today - a few boys weren't and were saying why I was going up into this grade, but sure you have to. There wasn't much coming up for him so we took our chance and he did it well. He was a good winner that day (over hurdles in Navan) and it was a bit unexpected. Then Jack won two chases on him in three days. We freshened him up there for today. I think the plan is Cartmel in May - there's a bunch of boys will wreck the place win, lose or draw!. Even with Crawford's horse falling, we had him well covered but it would have been nicer to get a lead for a bit longer because he doesn't like being in front. I'd say Jack was happy I had the cheekpieces on him today. He had a bad run the last day in Leopardstown, but it didn't suit as they hacked and he just stays all day. He's not ground dependent, he was just too weak to handle the soft. He has strengthened up now and he can handle it. Good horses will go on any ground!.
