He missed the kick today, settled away lovely, travelled everywhere and it was like a piece of work. Finny said he was never concerned at any stage, that he was always going to bolt up. I was a little concerned about the ground, I live locally and we got 30mm during the week in half an hour which was grand, as it took the firm out of the ground. The plan was to come here and run a nice race. He's about 10lb lower over hurdles and while we were looking at a handicap hurdle in Galway, on the back of that we may have to look at the amateur handicap. He's going to get a high mark as the right horses were second and third - he could be a 90-rated flat horse. I actually thought about the Galway Plate earlier in the year but it's too far. He's a two-miler over fences and there's nothing for him until the autumn. The Cesarewitch is also there at the end of the year and it's a €100,000 race. Barry Connell, trainer
The Raceday Stewards interviewed John Joseph Hanlon, trainer, concerning the failure to nominate a rider before the designated time for Pahlavi. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that Mr. P. Hanlon's licence was not issued until after the declaration cut off time. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards allowed the rider request and noted Mr. John Joseph Hanlon's explanation
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Enniskerry, ridden by Mr F
Maguire, placed first, Mon Coeur, ridden by Mr J.L. Gleeson, placed second, Whatawit (GB), ridden by Mr H.C
Swan, placed third, and Bella Nebula, ridden by Mr D. O'Connor, placed sixth, where it appeared Bella Nebula met with interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr. D. O'Connor stated that early in the straight he received pressure from both sides. Mr. J.L. Gleeson stated that he moved out to challenge and he received pressure from his outside. Mr. F. Maguire stated that he received a bump from his inside causing his mount to turn inwards. Mr. H.C. Swan stated that he felt he kept straight and was not involved in the incident. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found Mr. J.L. Gleeson, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for four racedays
Mr A. Harvey, rider of Aussie Warrior, trained by Thomas R. Hughes, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stopped very quickly
