Roscommon Mon, 2nd Sep, 2024  Cannes Do We have only two horses for the Flat and both have won now, so we're delighted. She's a home-bred - she took a while to get organised last season, but this season she knows her job quite well and she's on the up. She might be for sale, if someone is interested. I don't know where we go next with her, but Chris said there are a good few races left in her, so we'll see. That was probably a bit tight distance-wise, but she got a good ride. He took his time, he just had to let her get organised halfway up the straight and when she did ,he said she ran on for him.

Bellewstown Tue, 27th Aug, 2024  Cherry Pink It is hard to plan with these horses. That is only her second run for me, I bought her off Michael Halford not that long ago. She wasn't overly expensive, but they are great fun horses these type of horses. She was small money and somebody had pointed her out to me and said she could be worth taking a punt on. She will be a good fun filly in Dundalk through the winter as well. She's a strong filly and a nice-looking filly as well. She'll definitely go to the beach in Laytown. I'll have three or four, maybe five for the beach. I think she won with a nice bit in hand there and I hope he (handicapper) is not too hard on her, but he can't be with these type of horses. He (Caffrey) gave her a good ride and needed that win as well.

Roscommon Tue, 20th Aug, 2024  Come On The Lads he did it nicely there and I'm delighted to get the win. He's very straightforward and once Timourid (leader) folded, it was straightforward from there on. Whether he's going to a new home or not now remains to be seen. We can't make plans until we see what happens next.

Gowran Park Wed, 14th Aug, 2024  Smooth Tom he's not fully fit and he said he blew up a furlong down. It's his first run back, he's been away on a break since Punchestown and should improve a good bit. That could leave him right for the Petingo Handicap on Champions Weekend hopefully. I also had in the back of my mind the English Cambridgeshire, he's better on a straight track so a straight mile on soft ground there could suit. The ground would have been plenty quick enough for him there. We'll maybe go for some of those decent handicap hurdles too along the line. we gave him a break after Punchestown because he had been on the go all year. He won his maiden hurdle in Listowel, then won his novice and we kind of had no choice but to keep going in his novice season. We ran him in a Grade 1 when the ground was bottomless in Leopardstown and he actually ran well. He's only back in about seven weeks.

Naas Mon, 5th Aug, 2024  Apercu We weren't sure about the ground but we felt we had to try her. She was very tough, Billy gave her a great ride and put her in a great position. . I thought three out I thought we might be in trouble but he said she was just barely doing enough and she clicked into gear. . To be fair she started to go away. We do think she stays further but this opportunity just presented itself today. We'll look at options from here. . She didn't seem to be doing an awful lot and I think that's what got her beaten at Down Royal, with a tricky track she was slower to get going.  . Billy put her in a better position today to make sure she had no excuses. I think the cheekpieces helped her and I liked her attitude.

Naas Wed, 24th Jul, 2024  Nituna it's the very first runner for the Making Memories Racing Club who leased her from the Mugs Syndicate - it's a great start but it is all downhill from here!. Robyn felt confident that she was going to get there. She was very comfortable how the horse was travelling and said she loved hitting the bit of traffic. She's a funny filly as at home she goes off and does her own thing and in some ways she's not the most straightforward. The rain came in time for me as she hated the ground in Ballinrobe and never travelled a yard, it was just too fast for her that day. I don't think she's a Galway horse, she likes a nice big open track so we'll have a look and see what the handicapper gives her and go from there.

Tipperary Tue, 28th May, 2024  Come On The Lads He has disappointed since his first run so we dropped him into claiming company today and it all came good. These claimers are great for that reason and we've had our day now, albeit in moderate company. Somebody will now have fun with him going forward and I'd imagine he'll jump a hurdle as well.

Roscommon Mon, 20th May, 2024  Deo Vero I'm delighted with that. We thought the last day was a lovely introduction, even though she didn't get the breaks. I couldn't have asked for a better day out. I don't think she's too bad, she's been working well at home. I was wondering today if we were going to get going at all, Chris says she's still a bit green but I'm very happy with that. I think there is a winners of one in Leopardstown in the middle of June and we'll see how that goes. Hopefully the plan is to try and get a bit of black-type. We'll see how this race works out over time as well. She's a grand lady. Chris said she missed the break again today, I wouldn't mind but she's been out through the stalls during the week. I was thinking she'd be handy today, because she's on the steel, but her timing isn't great as she breaks fast at home but missed it there. We'll work on that.

Sligo Wed, 15th May, 2024  Castleheath He's a lovely, tough, honest horse and I'm very happy with that. He came forward for his first run. Obviously it's a hard track when you've little experience but he handled it well and got the job done. Ben was very good on him. I'd a horse like him last year, Bottler'secret, and he's very much in the same mould. We left him on the side as a two-year-old for this job and he's a nice horse going forward. The Slevins are local to me and this is the first horse they've had with me, so I'm delighted for them.

Roscommon Mon, 13th May, 2024  Play It Again Zaam I was delighted to see the rain but at the same time it made it loose. He looked very impressive the last day on real tacky ground as it slows them down and he can plough through it,. Today on looser ground they are able to get going and stay going and he just ground it out. It's nice to get two in a week. The runner-up has good form around here and it was a good weight carrying performance by her. We looked well in on paper but realistically he's been trying to win a 65 for a long time and it's nice to win a couple. He's in again on Friday (at Leopardstown) and we might take a chance again, we'll see how he is. He seems to be thriving on his racing and he might have got a bit of confidence for winning. We'll see what the ground is and we might roll the dice again.

Gowran Park Wed, 8th May, 2024  Play It Again Zaam He’s been running well, running consistently and it’s nice to get off the mark. I rode him myself the last day and he ran a blinder but I thought I should have claimed off him. Robert rides out for me along with James Ryan and it’s nice to give him a winner as well. I had my last ride over jumps at Down Royal on Monday and I’m focusing on training and riding a bit on the Flat for the summer. We have 18 in at the minute. We have seven in training and the rest are breakers. We’re nice and busy and building up our facilities. We have some Flat horses and some jumpers, and I wouldn’t mind training plenty of Flat horses. The last few years I’ve focussed a lot on the Flat and rode out for a lot of trainers. I’ve kept my eyes open and learned something everywhere I go so hopefully it will pay off.
