Clonmel Thu, 28th Sep, 2023  The Short Go I'm delighted for the Byrnes as we chose not to go to (local) Listowel last week because of the ground. We ended up here and while it wasn't ideal for him, he handled it well. He was keen early but Rachael was very keen to hold him up as he ran so blind in Galway. Once they went on, he jumped great and she was brilliant on him. It was lovely to see him pick up after the last. I haven't really looked ahead as we said we'd start today and get him jumping. It is great he handled that softer ground though so that will help him.

Tramore Thu, 17th Aug, 2023  Filey Bay That was great. It was probably a bit short for him at Roscommon and he was on the back on a break. He definitely took all of the two-miles to get going here today. He has had a tough campaign and has been placed in a lot of big competitive races, the Betfair Hurdle, the County Hurdle, the Galway Hurdle. He has been in a lot of dogfights and it's great to see that enthusiasm still in him coming up the hill today. That win should put him in a great frame of mind, but where we go from here, I don't know. He has opened up another avenue now and he'll mix it I'm sure. The horses are running well and it's good to see. He needs three runs on the level to get into any of the big flat handicaps coming up and with the entries closing soon we won't rush another run with him. We will get him home and see. There could be a handicap hurdle at Listowel for him. He has loads of options and if we look after him, hopefully he will keep repaying us. It's Maxine's first winner on the track for me. I told her to go out and ride him with loads of confidence and she surely did. Sometimes it's hard to do the simple things right, but she executed it beautifully.

Wexford Fri, 11th Aug, 2023  Navigator Jack The horse became available after his last run. Leonard stepped in and kept him in the yard, so I’m delighted. It’s my first winner for Leonard and he has another horse in the yard as well. It’s nice to get another win with him. He has been consistent this season without getting his head in front. Keith gave him a lovely ride and I don’t think the horse knew he was in a race until he appeared between the last two flights. He is what he is and has won two now. Hopefully there is another win over hurdles in him. Bellewstown would be Leonard’s home track and there is a race for him there at the end of the month, but he would be stepping up in grade. He is definitely better going left-handed. Last year he was being a bit of a monkey and wasn’t behaving himself well when going right-handed. He has been a model of consistency this season and we will probably go back right-handed with him at some stage. He seems to be very settled now.

Galway Sat, 5th Aug, 2023  Mon Coeur We didn't know how he'd handle coming back just three days after his last run but he got a massage on Wednesday night and we had him out in the paddock since. He was due to go up 10lb but we had to roll the dice,. Gary said going further would suit him better. It is great to get that win, he is a progressive horse but has had two sinus operations and the clinic in Fethard were very good. With those sinus operations you have to give them a lot of time to clear up. He had his little problems but has got over them and hopefully can come back here next year. This is a wonderful occasion to have another winner in Galway and is great for Tom (Egan) and all the boys.

Galway Sat, 5th Aug, 2023  Ambitious Fellow Sam made a good move to nip up the inner before coming down the hill and it could have been the winning and losing of it. It was a brave move but it worked out great for him,. He lost his form a little bit but had an issue after he ran at Limerick last year and it took him a while to get back right. He had a lovely run the last day when he was completely wrong at the weights, but it gave him confidence coming here. I was worried about the ground but it worked out great. Tthere are four involved in the OGB Partnership including Ber (wife) and after he won a bumper we brought him to the sales but couldn't get anyone to buy him. We brought him home and he has now won at the Punchestown festival and has landed a big pot today. We had four winners last year, we've had good old craic again and it has been brilliant.

Bellewstown Sat, 8th Jul, 2023  Wouldn't You Agree I was confident enough with the way the weather was going that something would pull out. He was in good order at home. I know he was on the back of a bad run over fences, but he doesn't jump fences as well (as hurdles), he's just a bit deliberate at them and he's losing ground at every fence. We just made the decision we would stick to the hurdles going forward. We put the blinkers on him and applied more positive tactics, and Mark gave him a lovely ride there. He got a nice run up the inner and it was probably the winning of the race. We were at the right end of the handicap and took the five off him. We will see what the handicapper does, he was up around the 123/124 before and kind of struggled a little bit. When you win that kind of a pot, you will take your penalty.

Punchestown Sat, 10th Jun, 2023  Da Capo Glory He's a lovely horse, that's his third win. He was my first winner after getting the licence so he's flying the flag for us,.

Killarney Mon, 15th May, 2023  The Short Go I’m delighted for Nolan and all the Byrnes and it’s great that he’s won here as this is one of their local tracks. They have been very patient with the horse and he was unlucky in a couple of maiden hurdles. He’s a lovely horse and has really turned inside out in the last few months. He stays well and will keep on the go over the summer.
