The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the final furlong involving Mr Lincoln (GB), ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed sixth, Save Your Love, ridden by B.M. Coen, placed fourth, and Tea Olive (FR), ridden by J.A. Powell, placed fifth, where it appeared Tea Olive (FR) had to be steadied and Mr. Lincoln checked on the rail
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. G.F. Carroll stated that he made the running and was running on one-paced when Save Your Love quickened past him and he took a check. B. Coen stated that he dropped in and didn't pick up until the final 150 yards at which point he had nowhere to go and he could either take off heels or try to get out of it. J.A. Powell stated that it took his mount time to get rolling and he anticipated the ground closing in front of him. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Save Your Love had caused interference to Mr Lincoln and Tea Olive (FR) the Raceday Stewards were satisfied he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that B.M. Coen was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden improperly and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for 7 race days
G.F. Carroll, rider of Mr Lincoln (GB), trained by Joseph G. Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran out of room in the closing stages
R.P. Whelan, rider of Roman Hands, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount went left under pressure
D. McMonagle, rider of Eyeeye (GB), trained by Thomas Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount met with interference after two furlongs
R.P. Cleary, rider of Golden Spangle, trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got a bump shortly after leaving stalls
M.P. Sheehy, rider of Paradise Perfect (USA), trained by W.P.Browne, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right throughout
J.A. Powell, rider of Tea Olive (FR), trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was short of room after a furlong and inside the final furlong
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident in the early stages involving Eyeeye (GB), ridden by D. McMonagle, Golden Spangle, ridden by R.P. Cleary, and Tea Olive (FR), ridden by J.A. Powell. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that the incident was caused by the slow pace and several horses running free and that no further action was warranted.
An extended handicap for three years old only that at entry have run three or more times under any Rules of Racing and are eligible for a handicap rating (100 = 9st 12lbs) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
