Leopardstown Sat, 19th Oct, 2024  Yamal He travelled and the headgear obviously worked,. He's a big strapping, strong horse and he's not a two-year-old. We knew that was in him and his form said that was in him. I thought he parked the last day. He's in the horses-in-training sale so I've a decision to make with the owners, whether we'll move him on or keep him on the team for next year. He was always going to be a better three-year-old. If we think there is a big one in him we'll have a decision to make. That was better.

Dundalk Fri, 18th Oct, 2024  Walhaan We said we were going to have one shot at him (Psalm) and we weren't going to do the donkey work today. Ben said 'I'll have one go at him' and it worked lovely. What a genuine horse to go to battle with, he's been very good. It is something that we would always be thinking about - swapping the headgear around and bits and pieces. We took the headgear off him there for a couple of runs and he ran a couple of crackers. I just felt the last day he was waiting a bit for them, so thinking about it during the week we said we would put the cheekpieces on. He only had them on once. We just put Ben up. Darragh (O'Sullivan) has done a brilliant job on him, he has done nothing wrong. We just said we would go for a bit more experience today in what we thought was going to be a tactical race. Ben said he moved beautifully down to the start, he said he gave him some feel. He said they went a true gallop and he said at the furlong pole he thought he had a chance. He didn't say he was going to win, but he thought he had a chance. He said he really battled for him then. I would say he'll come back here. We will let him freshen up again as he likes to be fresh. That's his career-high mark he is after winning off as an eight-year-old. From the horse's point of view, it is thumbs up to him. It is impressive. He is thriving on his work.

Naas Sat, 12th Oct, 2024  Heavenly Power It’s nice to get the result today as all the Power family were coming here. The way the programme is after the Bold Lad this was the only race left for him and we ran for nine and a half grand. I’d always hoped he’d win a big one, but he comes up short in them. He’s good in this grade. He’ll go out in the paddock now and come back next year. The ease in the ground is a help to him.

Naas Sat, 12th Oct, 2024  My Mate Alfie He keeps making us look good! This was an afterthought, and I’ve just let him freshen up since the Curragh. I said to Austin (Whelan, owner) to let me teach him how to sprint. I’m always moaning that Irish sprinters need practice where the English get them every week so if I didn’t run him then I’m not living up to what I’m asking for. He’s improved from run to run and we should have huge fun with him next year. Take the blinkers off him and he just goes to sleep. He’s a different horse with headgear. Six (furlongs) is grand. He does get further but we won’t fix what is not broken and he can travel next year when the conditions suit.

Cork Tue, 1st Oct, 2024  Mutasarref This is Eleanora's (Kennedy) last hurrah for the season as she heads back to the States this week, so goes out with a winner. She has had a lovely summer and Mutasarref has been a star. Today was for Eleanora as she asked me to have one ready before October 5. How do you get horses like that as, 'ya-I'll-have-a-horse-for-you' and the next thing is they have a stone bruise, a temperature or the ground is wrong or else the trainer's in a bad mood! He has done everything and more, has danced every jig and has kept a smile on our faces. it was straightforward and with having Colin on your side, you know you're in safe hands. He kept it simple, took a lead and put his head in front when he needed to, that's what he has been doing all his career on that horse. He is a legend of a horse and fellas are up at the sales in Goffs this week spending millions, so what would they give to find one of him?. Hopefully he isn't finished for the year but it depends on the ground as he doesn't want heavy.

Curragh Sun, 29th Sep, 2024  My Mate Alfie He's straightforward and I'm happy to have him. He's just improved all season. We said we'd teach him how to sprint all year, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. He just after rocking up and improving all year. I think he's won what he has deserved, a Group 3. He couldn't get near Givemethebeatboys early in the year but, the way he has improved now, if they had to meet in a match he'd have to give him six or seven pounds. It's a credit to the horse. We know he'll get seven - I promised the owner that if he let me do it my way this year that we'd go touring next year, so I'll have to come up with a plan to get out of that one!. He makes you look good, he's so straightforward. You'd think these sprinters are high octane and hard to deal with, but he's so laidback and I think that's the secret to his success. He's handled any ground as well.

Curragh Sun, 15th Sep, 2024  My Mate Alfie My Mate Alfie is a lovely horse but is invisible at home and so much so, that he caught me out a couple of times forgetting to put blinkers on him. He works to the button without blinkers but on the track he just won't do it. He's one of those fantastic horses. He holds an entry in the Ayr Gold Cup, I'm not saying we won't do it as it's a race I want to win, but we've been training this lad with the future in mind. I've kept saying to Austin (Whelan, owner) that we'd travel next year and to let me teach him how to sprint. Ten stone is a lot for a three-year-old and he's done it well; he's just a good horse and keeps turning up. We've trained him with next year in mind and he hasn't let us down. Whether he's a Group 1 sprinter, it's a huge jump from Group 3, but he's definitely going to mature into a better horse.

Leopardstown Thu, 22nd Aug, 2024  Walhaan He loves it around it around here and hasn't run a bad race here. . His run in Dundalk was a grand run. Going there he was working very well and I was a shade disappointed, I thought he'd be nearer. It probably was a better race, the premier handicaps aren't easy won. . He came out of it well and we said we'd come back here to where he likes, and it's down in grade. . The young man that rode him gave him a lovely ride, he was very cool and is good value for his 10lb. We've been keeping a good eye on him. We're very happy with the result. He'll probably have a run over hurdles at Kilbeggan in a fortnight. The plan would be to go chasing at some stage. 

Kilbeggan Sat, 10th Aug, 2024  Gamigin It was a return to form but we fancied him at Roscommon when he didn't left himself down on the ground,. He ran a good race though and was only beaten fourteen lengths. Oran said he just didn't feel it the last day and was jarry a wee bit. He said he travelled today and was different gravy. We fancied him as he said if he had a cut in the ground the last day he'd have been thereabouts. We walked the track and they did a serious job watering today. Bar Slieve Bearnagh it was an ordinary race, but he had gone up 20Ibs and I've never won 3-in-a-row in my life. He (Gamigin) had risen up the weights last year but had slipped down a wee bit recently.

Leopardstown Thu, 8th Aug, 2024  Mutasarref He’s some horse and you don’t expect him to be winning with the penalties. He’s a nice horse around a bend. We were a bit disappointed with him at the Curragh but I don’t think he’s ever ran his best at the Curragh in a straight. Eleanora (Kennedy, owner) is having some summer, it’s just fantastic. Horses like that make you enjoy it. His plan is to come back here for the Group 2 on Champions Weekend which is beyond him as we know but it’s another day out.
