She deserves it as she's consistent. Although it's soft ground here today, it was just too soft in Tramore last time. Her form before that was pretty solid. Hopefully the handicapper doesn't take it too literally, it probably wasn't the greatest of maiden hurdles. She should be competitive off the mark she has now in a handicap or maybe a little winners' race somewhere. She doesn't owe them (Planetary Orbit Syndicate) anything as she's won a bumper in Galway and now a maiden hurdle here. She wasn't expensive. We'll keep going for another while. He was good, I was just afraid of the hill here - he travels real well and sometimes just doesn't see it out. Dan was good and positive on him. It is nice to get another one over hurdles with him. He got a fair penalty for being third in a good Grade B at Kilarney and it kind of knocked the stuffing out of us last year with him. He has dropped a couple of pound and that helped him there today. We knew that (there would be plenty of pace) and we thought that we would have something to track the whole way. As Dan said, he would have loved to have had something for a bit longer. He got caught here I think two years ago up the hill, so I just closed my eyes!. It kind of just didn't work out for him (the last day in Punchestown), he missed a hurdle or two and he was unlucky four from home when a horse in front of him missed it and shuffled him all the way back. He had to make a lot of ground from there. The last furlong he just kind of got caught for stamina then. He deserved that as he got a wicked bad fall here in the race after the Grand National and I thought he was dead when he hit the ground. The lads (Miracle Cure Syndicate) deserved a big day like that and they have been with me from the very start. To come back and do that is unbelievable. He ran well over hurdles in Clonmel but the ground dried up too much in Carlisle the last day. This was always the plan. They went a wicked gallop which I knew would suit him as he stays and Danny gave him a great ride. He kept him wide and he jumped great. He loves soft ground and is much better going this way. If he got in he might go for the Irish National one day. The National Trial in Punchestown could be a race for him. For a short priced favourite maybe you'd expect him to do it better than that but he was careful over his hurdles. He has been careful in his early races but has warmed to things and obviously his last few runs were better. Sean said he had plenty horse under him going to the line though and it is nice for the owners Anne and Jim Coffey and Susan, who are brilliant supporters of ours. We have had a frustrating year for them but it is nice to get one on the board. We bought him off Richard O'Brien (trainer), who has been lucky for us and we've had a good association with him. It was an eventful race. He jumped very poor early on and as a result ended up further back than he wanted to be, but he has an engine and his bumper form was reasonable. There will be huge improvement in him as he’s a very raw and weak horse. I’m delighted to win and it’s a lovely pot. I thought he’d run a big race in Naas and he gurgled all the way up the straight. I probably had the wrong bit in his mouth as he’d never done it before. I was really happy with him and he was working really well at home. The day he was fourth in the maiden hurdle in Gowran was a good run and I thought he’d go on the ground here. You can't knock him as you won't find a tougher horse in training. He had finished second to Aodhan May twice so we were delighted when we saw that Charles (Byrnes, trainer) had nothing in it!. Neil (Cox, owner) was patient and gave him the time he needed last year and every day this season the horse has been good. His jumping wasn't brilliant in the past but cheekpieces have helped and he now makes ground at his hurdles. That's Conor's fifth winner. He started with me just over a year ago and started with no experience. For the chances he is getting his strike rate has been extremely good. He is good value for his claim and this horse is an ideal one for him to ride as he has plenty of experience,. I got him off the Dooly's and Noel is still involved with him. The Dooly's are fabulous people and they gave me the opportunity to buy three horses and I'm really pleased to have them. They are great friends and are lovely people, so I can't say enough thanks to Noel and Jenny Dooly, they are very good to me. He is a winter horse and we have winter ground today. I believe it's summer heavy today and so did Paul Townend and a lot of the senior jockeys, yet the board inside still says soft, yielding in places. The same clerk of the course (Paul Moloney) gave good to yielding in Kilbeggan last night, whereas all the senior jockeys said good, no yielding. There is a huge discrepancies. How are they seeing it as slower than the riders last night and quicker than the riders today. The discrepancy is too big and it doesn't make sense. I'm delighted because my horse is a winter horse and he got heavy ground today. Liz Doyle told me this morning it would be proper soft and she was right.
