Down Royal Mon, 30th Sep, 2024  Future Cutlet I was going to try and sit second or third today and he was a fraction slow away, so I had to just take my medicine a small bit and ride a waiting race. I was able to follow Dylan (Browne McMonagle) throughout the race, he took me into it well. I thought he won well within himself, I just had to make him work the last furlong just to get him there. He feels like he would get a mile and there is definitely more to come. He's probably a horse that will get further in time as well. We'll see what the story with him is. He might be out in a few weeks if we don't get him sold. He belongs to my sister so he was kind of bought to sell. We won't be overly anxious - we'll try and sell him if we can, but if not and we have to run him, it is not the end of the world. Conor McNamara, representing

Listowel Fri, 27th Sep, 2024  Cahirdown Boy The whole secret to Cahirdown Boy is to throw the reins at him, as it makes him settle: if you grab any hold of him, he will arrive at the second-last fence but his race will have been run. Once you throw the reins at him, he will settle. Sean did a marvellous job and while we weren't going to lead with (front-runner) Kilashee in the race, as long as the horse was relaxed he was going to come home well. That is why I wanted Sean to ride him. Sean Curran is a wonderful owner from Spiddle and has had three Kerry National winners for me. We go back a long way and while unfortunately he wasn't able to come today, his son Sean is here and will be more than happy to collect the trophy. Gaelic Des Chastys really loves quick ground but got away with it today.

Listowel Fri, 27th Sep, 2024  Mount Ferns I really fancied this horse as his work at home has been exceptional. We bought him during the summer from Emma Lavelle's, left him off for a while and in the last few weeks his work had been really really good. I'd have been disappointed if he had been beaten. I told Sean to ride him with full confidence although he is such an experienced rider there wasn't much point in Eric McNamara telling Sean Flanagan how to ride in a handicap hurdle. I love this place, know a lot of people here and have friends here, so I'm getting a good kick out of this week.

Listowel Fri, 27th Sep, 2024  Frankendael That was magic and he is a lovely lovely horse who has improved all the time since we got him. I thought he won his maiden hurdle very nicely at Ballinrobe and when we were entering for this, I thought it was a longshot although top weight Daddy Long Legs came out, so we snuck in at the bottom. He is a particularly good jumper, loves soft ground and has won a beautiful pot for fantastic owners. The syndicate is headed by Vincent Casey, they are very loyal and fantastic people. They love Listowel so will enjoy this moment.

Listowel Wed, 25th Sep, 2024  Donkey Years We're delighted with that. He's been a good servant over the years and he's so much better handicapped over hurdles than fences so it was nice to get one with him,. He had promised a couple of times when he was placed but he was just very disappointing the last day. It's good that he's back and showed a nice bit of sparkle there. Mark said he was even keen at one or two points in the race. It's great to have a winner in those colours. I'd like to have one crack at the Munster National with him. Maybe before today I might have struggled to be allowed to enter him but he will be entered in it now, that's for certain.
