Her run at Gowran last month, when a staying on second to Glen Princess, suggested that she would appreciate stepping up to this trip. Jack Spriggins was well backed in a couple of maidens but weakened tamely enough on those occasions over ten furlongs. It's interesting that he steps back up in trip now after a solid run over seven at Dundalk recently. Gregorina is a couple of pounds out of the handicap but won here on her penultimate outing and has to come into calculations.

The drier ground probably helped today, she just got stuck in gluey ground in Galway. She had a great run in the Curragh, it was soft ground there but it was loose. I'm delighted, she got the mile really well and will get further as she's a half-sister to a two-mile hurdle winner. I thought the ground might be quick enough but Jack said they are getting their toe into it. We'll look at a nursery now, maybe in Listowel, today was the plan. We were a little disappointed the last day (in Cork) that he wasn't closer, but there was a big swing around with the favourite (Solar Drive). There was 17lb of a swing and that made the difference. We rode him a little differently as well, we jumped him out, made the running and tried to stretch the favourite the whole way. Making the running seems to work for him. We would try him over a mile and a half again. It's a good stiff uphill finish here and he wasn't stopping. He handles soft ground well but I think he'll go on most ground, he mightn't want it firm. Wesley is back with us now and he's part of the furniture at our place. We were making it with her, but he said it might be best to drop her in a little bit.
