An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving Hidden Depths (IRE), dead heat for second, ridden by Liam Keniry and With Pleasure (GB), dead heat for second, ridden by Saffie Osborne.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved With Pleasure (GB)’s placing as the gelding had moved Hidden Depths (IRE) off its intended line on two occasions.
The Stewards deemed that the ground and momentum lost by Hidden Depths (IRE) was greater than the official distance of a dead heat at the line and revised the placings as follows: First: Fred Bear (IRE); Second: Hidden Depths; Third: With Pleasure (GB); Fourth: Easy Equation (FR).
Osborne was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as she failed to take sufficient steps to correct her mount from drifting left-handed, under a right-hand drive carrying Hidden Depths (IRE) off its intended line on two occasions.
Rounding the first bend Choirmaster (GB), unplaced, lugged left-handed causing Lexington Knight (IRE), unplaced, to become momentarily short of room resulting in Alkhattaaf (GB), unplaced, to be crowded for room and its rider having to take a slight check.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Franny Norton reported that Choirmaster (GB), unplaced, had taken a false step turning into the home straight.
Trevor Whelan reported that Zillion (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed.
Mollie Philips reported that CAFÉ SYDNEY (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away.
George Rooke reported that COPPERLATE, unplaced, had hung violently right-handed, he felt it appropriate to ease the gelding to avoid interference with other horses; the Veterinary Officer reported a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The Veterinary Officer further reported that Alkhattaaf (GB), unplaced, had lost its right-hind shoe.
