Leaving the stalls Gulick (IRE), unplaced, jumped sharply left-handed at the same time as Captain Howse (IRE), placed third, jumped right-handed, which resulted in Tulane (IRE), placed fifth, being hampered and Ulysses (GER), unplaced, having to be checked, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the first bend involving Gulick (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Stefano Cherchi and Captain Howse (IRE), placed third, ridden by Luke Morris.
Cherchi was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had failed to leave sufficient racing room for Captain Howse (IRE) to negotiate the bend on his inside and resulted in Morris being forced to take a significant check to avoid clipping his heels.
Approximately 7 furlongs out a free running Captain Howse (IRE), placed third, galloped into the back of Arabist (GB), unplaced, and dragged that gelding down from behind causing Arabist (GB) to lose its action, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race; Stefano Cherchi reported that Gulick (IRE), unplaced, jumped left leaving the stalls.
