The Raceday Stewards interviewed A.J. Slattery, rider of Royal Hollow, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence,A.J. Slattery accepted he was in breach of the Whip Regulation and apologised for his actions. He further stated that his mount was hanging and that he had used his whip for corrective purposes. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied A.J. Slattery was in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (first offence and using their discretion), they suspended him for one raceday
R.P. Whelan, rider of Chemdawg, trained by Oliver McKiernan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount rolled around under pressure
