FormscanBy Gary Carson - LAKE CHAD has been in fine form over fences and looks interesting here now off an 11lb lower mark over timber. The grey won over hurdles here a few years back and is a generally consistent performer. He is versatile ground-wise so the forecast rain wouldn't be a major worry. I was wondering whether to drop her in distance for this 2m2f race but I've won this race for the same owners in the past and also finished second in it. . This was my plan after winning in Kilbeggan and while the second and third-placed horses ran stinkers since, I can only worry about my own mare. She came back in mighty form so I really fancied her today. I trained her dam and both mares have been my only two winners on the racecourse as I do mostly breaking and pre-training horses. Her owners, the Sheehans from Ballyduff, have been brilliant to me and Backinthere, the dam, was a great mare for me. We think an awful lot of him. He ran a cracking race in a bumper and got a bit jarred after it. We had to mind him and he had a smashing run over hurdles just over a fortnight ago. Everyone that rides him loves him. Kevin Brouder would have ridden him but he got injured. The owner passed away a few weeks ago so he must be doing big things for us. His owner Mark Sheasby got a touch out of this horse when he won for Paddy at Cartmel and I told him that he wouldn't be out of the first two today. I thought Paddy was very good as he hadn't much room but was very strong on him. He rode a very clever race and for a young lad, he's not too bad. You can't beat the 'flapping' (pony racing) as it absolutely crowned him as he learned so much.
