FormscanBy Tom Weekes - UNDENIABLE ALIBI debuts in handicaps and has recent form. A point-to-point winner on debut, he won an ordinary February maiden and then ran well when finishing third at Naas last month, from which the fourth-placed horse has won since. Rumi returned from a year-long layoff when winning on the flat at Gowran. His fifth-placing to Irish Point in March 2023 reads very well and is unexposed in handicaps. Ballycallan King won quite easily at Limerick recently but has been raised 9lb while dual hurdle winner Killeenmore Lad ran well in a recent handicap and can compete. Bowmore remains a fraction unexposed despite being a beaten favourite when last seen at Thurles in December. Four-year-old Club Manager is 9lb higher than when winning on handicap hurdle debut last month and while open to further progression over jumps, was nonetheless rated just 65 on the flat. Holly is the first runner of her newly combined-training licensees and has recent handicap form. Judicieuse Allen wasn't beaten too far in a pair of subsequent Grade 3s but was pulled up in a recent Grade 1 although drops in distance. Catena Zapata was well beaten on handicap debut.

the ride wasn't by design as I lost my position but it worked out well. He is a bit lairy but it is a big drop in grade for him. He had been running terribly all winter and we gave him a freshen up recently. He was a good juvenile but they get killed by the handicapper and was a victim of his own success. He paid the penalty for the last year and a half. I said to Liam (Mulryan) about riding him colder and he has been working really well. I haven't seen Liam at a racecourse for 10 years so when I saw him today I knew he fancied him too. I'm delighted for him as he has been a loyal supporter since I started training. He always has two or three in training with me and I enjoy talking to him regularly on the phone. Mark was saying they went very quick early on and, then when they steadied it up, he just got on the bridle a bit and travelled,. He picked up well and quickened away down to the last. He's a nice horse, he's a very consistent horse and never runs a bad race. He had two runs in Galway one day after the other and he ran a cracker both days. He'll be a nice horse there for nice handicaps. He gets two and a half mile and I suppose some of those nice two mile handicaps where they go fast up front, he could be dropped in a bit and come through them. It is great to get a winner for them and the connection comes from another former pupil Jonathan Moore (jockey) who advises me. we always thought a wee bit of him and we thought maybe Mighty Mo Missouri might have got a hard race at Cheltenham and we were glad to take him on on the day. Cian only lives 200 yards down the road and that’s his first winner at Thurles. He was off for six months after breaking his leg in Listowel and I think he’s only back a few weeks so it’s great to get him a winner. It was an ideal opportunity after his last two runs. I know he’s a nine-year-old but he’s improving all the time and is only coming to himself this year. We’ll probably find a handicap for him down the line and maybe a bit further would suit. He operated on him and took out a piece of bone that was bigger than a golf ball. We just gave him time and it’s incredible to get him back like that. . The last day was a non event, he stood in the stalls and the race was over. Lucky enough we were in last today which was a big help. His three runs before that were very good and I thought one day he might just come good. He's after running around 20 times on the Flat and has never won. Dylan said he was going to keep it simple today. He said if he came out, he would ride him real positive. If he fell in a hole up the straight, so be it. He stayed going. To win five lengths, I couldn't believe it. That was a 95 handicap - there was only one horse rated over 95 and the rest of them were in the 80s (and 70s), but he won well. He's basically running away here until he gets a bit of nice ground to go back over jumps. He wants good ground. He has a wind issue, so he gets away with it on nice ground. he is out of a Galileo mare and isn't very big so it was an easy choice to go three-year-old hurdling. He was small and doesn't look like an Enda Bolger-horse so maybe nobody wanted him! I wouldn't be throwing 12st7lb on him or anything but there is an engine there, which is the main thing. it was no harm that he met some trouble in running as it will make a man of him and he is a great little leaper. He had his wind done at Christmas and maybe needed the run the last day after the break. He didn't run a bad race last time and Ben got to know him there. The plan was to come here and he probably came on a bit from the last day. It's great to see him winning and the syndicate (Force Fifteen), which includes my sister Rebecca, have had plenty of faith in him. He was rated 117 as a four-year-old, he was too high, and he was only getting dropped a pound the whole time. He's rated 105 over fences. He'll actually be better around tighter tracks, I was a bit worried about here but in fairness he gave him a great ride. He did it well. Chris gave him a peach of a ride, he was in the box seat turning for home. He did well to get him from a 17 draw across and that was important because I thought there was quicker ground on the far rail, and that's been evident all day. He's a good actioned horse. He ran a reasonable race in Galway last week, I was disappointed with him but the ground had gone soft to heavy and that's not for him. He was drawn wide and ran a bit keen. It was a combination of things and things just didn't work out in that particular race. He's a smashing horse to train, he's won a couple on the Flat and he's won over hurdles this year as well. He has a great owner, Gregg Ryan in America.
