Permission was given for Sami Bear (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Approaching the final hurdle Sami Bear (GB), hung badly left-handed despite the riders best efforts and unseated its rider, taking Seymour Promise (IRE), placed second, off its intended line.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Jet Marshall (IRE), compared with its previous run at Ffos Las on 22 December 2022 where the gelding finished sixth of fifteen runners beaten 12 ½ lengths, was considered.
Phillip Hobb’s explanation that the gelding was suited by the step up in trip to 2 miles 4 furlongs from 2 miles, was noted and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race Liam Harrison reported that Hazy Dream (GB), unplaced, hung right-handed.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Ferdinand Star (GB), unplaced, lost its left hind shoe and Fame And Fun (IRE), which unseated its rider, lost its left fore shoe.
