The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of The Role Model, ridden by S. Fitzgerald, and trained by Kevin Michael Smith. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. S. Fitzgerald, stated that his instructions were to settle his mount out the back, as it had ran too free on its previous run at Punchestown were it unseated its rider at the first hurdle. He stated that his intention was to creep into the race thereafter and do his best
Kevin Michael Smith, confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He stated that he had struggled to secure a rider for his charge today following its first run and in the circumstances was happy with the performance. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that The Role Model was found to have a small wound on the right hind pastern and was also clinically abnormal post race. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered and reminded the rider of his future responsibilities in this regard.
