He didn't win over there and they tend to drop them quicker than they do over here. That was the winning of the race. He had been working well at home but I thought he might come on for it and that maybe the five here might be a bit sharp for him. The Stewards enquired into two incidents of possible interference in the closing stages of this race, the first involving Bubbly Bellini, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed third, Hidden Oasis, ridden by W.M. Lordan, unplaced, In Salutem (GB), ridden by W.J. Lee, placed second and Sassaway, ridden by T.P. Madden, unplaced, where it appeared both Hidden Oasis and Sassaway ran short of room. The second incident involved Joe Eile, ridden by C. T. Keane placed first, In Salutem and Bubbly Bellini. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action. Mr Niall Madden, trainer and master of T. P. Madden also attended this enquiry. . F.M. Berry, rider of Booker (GB) trained by David Wachman, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran short of racing room in the closing stages.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (100 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 100 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 100 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 100 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
