At the request of the Stewards, E. O'Connell, rider of Nibiru, trained by A.J.Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped very big and careful and lost his chance of winning by missing the third last
At the request of the Stewards, R.P. Treacy, rider of Tomeric (FR), trained by E. McNamara, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount gave a gasp down the back, gave a heave at the final bend after which he gave his mount a chance to fill up before running on again in the closing stages
L.P. Gilligan, rider of Messerati Kid trained by Paul W. Flynn, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount burst
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Messerati Kid, trained by Paul W. Flynn, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at the nose following exercised induced pulmonary haemorrhage
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Dollar Value (USA), ridden by C.D. Maxwell, and trained by T.G.McCourt. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. C.D. Maxwell, stated that his mount was bred for the flat and with this in mind, his instructions were to settle his mount early on and ride him to get the trip
He said his mount ran very free over the first four and took time to settle, after which he allowed his mount time to creep into the race. He said his mount got a trouble free run down the inner in the home straight, but missed the last which he felt cost him third place. T.G.McCourt, confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He said his charge was bought to run over 6 and 7 furlongs on the flat and had disappointed prior to today. He stated that he had concerns that the animal would not stay the 2miles on his first run over hurdles today and felt his free running early on had left the rider with little option but to be off the pace for much of the race. He concluded by stating that his he was surprised at how well his charge ran considering how free he ran early on. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Dollar Value was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
