I think tactics was the key to her today and we let her bowl along and let her enjoy herself. She had been the most frustrating filly I have ever trained believe it or not as she'd work over everything at home but we couldn't get the best out of her on the track. The Stewards interviewed E. O'Connell, rider of Nibiru, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that E. O'Connell was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (g) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards cautioned E. O' Connell on this occasion
The Stewards requested a report from Miss Katy Brown, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Effernock Fizz, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Miss Brown reported that her charge is a difficult mare to train, she hangs on the flat and normally starts from off the pace. Miss Brown added that today she changed tactics and had her charge jump off from the front, which suited her better and brought about an improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
