The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Universal Focus (GER), ridden by W.J. Lee, placed second, Full Moon Magic, ridden by S.M. Crosse, placed first and Happy Company, ridden by D.E. Sheehy, placed third, where it appeared Universal focus ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judges placings. They did however find S. M. Crosse in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered S. M. Crosse's record in this regard the Stewards suspended S
M. Crosse for one raceday
S.M. Crosse, rider of Full Moon Magic trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left inside the final furlong.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards rated 45-65 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 10st 2lbs and the minimum weight is 8st 6lbs Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra for each race won.
