James J. Doyle, rider of Never Rains trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran short of room
C.T. Keane, rider of Loaded trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with serious interference shortly after leaving the stalls
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Never Rains, ridden by James J
Doyle, placed fifth and Alfirak (GB), ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed second, where it appeared that Never Rains ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards considered that any interference caused was accidental and they therefore took no further action
The Stewards wished to enquire into an incident early in this race involving Loaded, ridden by C.T. Keane, Alfirak (GB), ridden by R.P. Whelan, Descendant (GB), ridden by G.P. Brouder and A Step Too Far, ridden by W.J. Lee, where it appeared Loaded ran short of room and was forced to check. However, as W.J. Lee had already left the Racecourse, the Stewards referred the incident and the non availability of W.J. Lee to the Referrals Committee for consideration under Rule 214 and Rule 229(v).
