Drogheda trainer George Kingston tasted success at his local track as his Gan Locht (Without Fault in English) took the [email protected] Handicap under Shane Gray.

The 4yo filly by Whywhywhy was having her sixth run this evening and just her second for Kingston having previously been trained by Jim Bolger. Having shown very little before today she went off at 12/1 for the two mile contest.

Having raced prominently in second, she was then ridden to lead a furlong from home keeping on well under pressure from there to score by a neck. Daytime Dreamer for James Lambe and Fergal Lynch ran on well close home to finish second at 11/1 while the Johnny Murtagh ridden Mutiska was a further neck back in third at 7/1.

Old timer The Fonze ran well to finish fourth under Mikey Butler at 7/1 while the gamble of the race The Ice Factor who was backed on course from 14/1 into 6/1 at the off, could only manage a disappointing twelfth.

Winning trainer Kingston said afterwards: "She worked well twice over two miles around here and she was fully wound up for today and had been training well.

"We were confident each-way and we had a few bob on.

"Fifi (Shane Gray) started riding out with us when he was eleven and he was lucky enough to get into Tommy Stacks and they have been very good to him. If his weight stays down he will have a good future ahead of him." (DM & GC)
