After race at Punchestown Tue, 30th Apr, 2024 (1st)
Mystical Power showed resilience and toughness and he's been improving all season. I didn't think we had much chance at the second last and Mark said he was going as fast as he could coming around the last bend. The race turned into a staying race with the other two protagonists (Firefox and Slade Steel) playing their cards going to the last. They were flat out and then he just outstayed them with a good jump at the last. It's fantastic that he's progressed as the season has gone on and I think Annie Power is coming out in him. She showed plenty of ability but he didn't show any ability early. When he was a three-year-old he didn't show me much ability and at the end of his four-year-old year he started to show a little bit.

I was very impressed with him, he wouldn't show that at home and seems to save his best for the track, which is a great trait. We were a little bit worried about the heavy ground as he's coming from a summer campaign but it looks like he went through it very well. We gave him a break after he had his couple of runs in the summer and brought him back to see if he would handle a winter campaign. Mark rode him a couple of weeks ago and thought he had improved hugely from when he had ridden him earlier in the year - he showed that today. At the moment you probably wouldn't go any further than two miles until you have to. Mark said he rides a lot quicker on the track than he does at home. I thought he showed a fair turn of foot there. I know the (McManus) camp have the second favourite (Jeriko Du Reponet) for the Supreme as well so they might want to split them up. We'll get him home, check him out and then Willie will decide plans in a couple of weeks.

After race at Galway Mon, 31st Jul, 2023 (1st)
He settled fine but then got a little bit idle with me for a while, but when I got him in amongst horses again he came alive for me. I didn't think we went over quick and I just wanted to get out going to the second-last because I didn't want to be caught in behind horses coming back. We got out in time and I was just taking my time going down to the last, go in and pop it, and he went away nicely and did it very easy. There's plenty more to come from him because he's still very raw. The ground is more yielding, summer soft in places. It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be. It's beautiful ground but it's opened up now and the boys might think it's worse later on. Galway has been a lucky place for me, I've won two Plates and ride Ciel De Neige in it on Wednesday. I haven't won a (Galway) Hurdle yet so hopefully I can put that right this year. That was a huge performance compared to his bumper performance. He likes jumping but there is a lot of improvement to come as he made at least three mistakes. Like his mother he’s won here on his second run and hopefully he’ll be half as good as her. I’ll continue hurdling with him now. I don’t want to go back to the flat - I may do that next year with him. He looks like a horse that we might aim at the Royal Bond or something like that. Mark said he was too keen at the first two and pulled him out of the race early. I thought he jumped the first two very well and then he said he was idling a bit passing
