We knew he was in good nick but obviously Willie’s horse was going to be hard to beat over two and a half miles and we know our lad wants three. Jack gave him a wonderful ride and was very clever on him, squeezed him along and said he was going to have one go at him between the last two. The horse has got a lot stronger. He’s only a young horse and didn’t do much wrong last year. We are going to do things a bit different this year and the plan is to go straight for the Stayers Hurdle now. We might have knocked the edge off him in Gowran last year.

He is really after stamping his authority on the staying division. This lad is brilliant. You can go wherever you want on him. You can make a move and go forward on him without lighting him up or anything. It was great for the horse and great for Jack, he has a big battle and it's going to be a long tough week. He said he was stuck in a bit of a pocket behind Paul and he had to get out. He said the ground might be as quick as he wants it but he was very good. He's a great horse.

He’s best fresh so we said we’d come straight here. Listen, it’s great to get a winner. They’ve been running well, just hitting the crossbar, they’ve had no excuses but to win the Stayers’ Hurdle is unbelievable and I’m delighted for the whole team. It’s difficult to tell myself to stay patient when you don’t have a winner, it’s been a long couple of days but they’ve bene running well. We’ve got one now. This was always going to be our best day, this was one of our biggest guns.

He was good and is a good horse. He is going the right way and the plan is to go straight to Cheltenham (for the Stayers' Hurdle). It was two-miles in Cheltenham last year and I'd say this distance is the key to him - over two miles the gun is to your head the whole time. I know he was well beaten in Punchestown, but he wasn't actually beaten that far and he wasn't tailed off. At the moment we have no worries ground-wise although it (Stayers' Hurdle) is an open race too. Davy said he panicked and got there a bit soon, as he is so laid-back early but, when he gave a squeeze, he leapt back on the bridle. You'd love the way he quickened from the second-last to the line.

She has been incredible so far and will be again. It's just disappointing today and that's the way it is. I'm delighted for Robcour and I said to Brian (Acheson) beforehand that if we don't win it, I hope you do and I genuinely meant it. Klassical Dream is a Supreme Novices' winner and I saw Teahupoo come up the straight one day in Gowran in the Red Mills Hurdle like a weapon on soft ground. The more it rained, the more he was coming into play. That's the game we are in unfortunately and they get beaten. As disappointing as it is, we've had an unbelievable run with her so far and I've no doubt it's not over yet. He was very good last year on soft ground and we ran him on good ground a couple of times which was probably a mistake but we are still learning about the horse. Jack gave him a wonderful ride. He let it all happen in front of him and there is only one winning post. It's been a brilliant day with two Grade 1s and we were only beaten a head for three.

Autumn Evening went at the second last but I felt I had him covered at the time. I reluctantly had to go forward early on and I was much happier when Rachael (Blackmore, on Quilixios) went on. He picked him up well, stayed galloping and jumped brilliant. I hadn’t ridden him in a race before but he’s obviously after improving from last year and is a lovely horse.

I thought it was a good performance again; I liked the way when he jumped the second last and idled a bit and pricked his ear. Robert said when he gave him a squeeze at the back of it he was gone again. He's improving the whole time. Obviously he's in everything at Cheltenham, the Fred Winter, the Supreme and the Triumph. I'll have a chat with Brian (Acheson, owner) as we have Cheltenham or we could come back here for the Grade 2 at Easter which is only two weeks later. It wouldn't be the biggest shock in the world if he stayed at home and came back here. There is a lot of water to go under the bridge over the next couple of weeks. I'd say he'll stay three miles, he's a real stayer, and he's probably the type of horse you need for a Triumph Hurdle because he stays. He's a nice horse.

He's a nice horse. Obviously we had a lot of luck on our side there with Willie's horse going at the last,.
