There was a fair amount of drama in the closing stages of the 2m4f bumper which was won by the Dermot McLoughlin-trained Mousey Brown (10/1). Wed 31st May
Everyone said she was lucky the last day in Down Royal but she was nearly knocked down and still won,. As Conor said, she’s very tough. She wasn’t enjoying the ground but from the back of the last she came home well. He said she started pricking her ears and looking around her. It was a good performance in a good race. I thought it might be a bit soon bringing her back after Down Royal, as it was only 13 days. She’s hardy, Conor said it’s hard work out there but she’s game. I like her, she had to do a lot of work from where she was there, but kept going. She’s a big, strong mare.

She’s done it well and Paddy said she enjoyed herself. They went a good gallop which suited as she stays well. . She warmed into. She hasn’t run over fences for a while and they come up here quick and fast on the bends. He said she came alive three out. . She’s a consistent mare and has won five now so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards. . She’s a big strong mare and has won on all types of ground. . We’d think about the Midlands National here if she could sneak into it. All she does is gallop and stay.

Barry Lyndon fell independently and hampered this mare and then there was the carnage at the third last. Bumper cars there!. Incident-packed race, but she is a tough mare to come from all that carnage. She kept going well and she missed the second last to add to the woe as well, but he just said to me she finished out the race well. She's a hardy mare - she's game and tough. A lot of mine all winter don't want that real heavy ground. We were sitting waiting to get a bit of nicer ground. The lads said after the first race that the ground wasn't too bad, so we took our chance. That was the idea (to get qualified for the final in Punchestown), I think there is only one more (qualifier) during the week in Cork. It was nice to get that one in today.

She's done it well, she is a nice mare and is improving the whole time. She is settling well now and that was the key to her. She is a big, strong mare. Michael gave her a good ride and she kept going the best. She won a point-to-point and she'll get further than this. I said to Michael don't be afraid to go on with her if you have to. We will keep her going for the summer and there is a novice race in Galway that could be an option for her.
