Jerry Russell passes away Davy Russell's father Jerry has passed away aged 85. The father of six was a long-standing patron of Gordon Elliott's and his jockey son partnered Youghal By The Sea to victory for him in a Downpatrick maiden hurdle in 2018. After that success, Davy Russell said: "It's probably one of the most important winners I've ever ridden. "The pressure that was on me coming up the road to here was unbelievable. We travelled up together and he (Jerry Russell) didn't open his mouth the whole way up, so I knew there was something on. He is the coolest man of them all." Reposing at Egan's Funeral Home, Greencloyne, Youghal from 4.30pm on Monday with prayers at 7.30pm.
