Permission was given for Sea Of Thieves (GB), Raqiya (IRE), and ZIGGY’S DREAM (IRE) to all wear a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, Jabaara (IRE), ridden by James Doyle, interfered with Raqiya (IRE), placed second, ridden by Jim Crowley.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Jabaara (IRE)’s placing as in their opinion, the momentum lost by Raqiya (IRE) was more than the rapidly diminishing head in which it was beaten by Jabaara (IRE) at the line.
The Stewards therefore revised the placings as follows: First – Raqiya (IRE), Second – Jabaara (IRE), Third – ZIGGY’S DREAM (IRE), Fourth – Vetiver (GB).
Doyle was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed when insufficiently clear resulting in Crowley having to steady Raqiya (IRE) for approximately four strides and switch left-handed to continue with his run.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ZIGGY’S DREAM (IRE), placed third, lost its right- hind shoe.
