An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after two incidents of interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Undertheboardwalk (IRE), ridden by Oisin Murphy; Peintre D'etoiles (FR), placed second, ridden by Tom Marquand; and Red Genesis (GB), placed third, ridden by William Buick.

In the first incident just inside the final furlong marker, the Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Peintre D'etoiles (FR)’s placing as the filly always appeared to be holding Red Genesis (GB), with that gelding not closing on Peintre D'etoiles (FR) throughout the final furlong and the distance between the two runners at the line a neck.

The interference was found to be accidental as Peintre D'etoiles (FR) had hung left-handed, causing Red Genesis (GB) to become unbalanced and drift right-handed, resulting in the gelding making contact with Peintre D'etoiles (FR) which was briefly hampered.

In the second incident on the run to the line, the Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Undertheboardwalk (IRE)’s placing as that filly always appeared to be holding Peintre D'etoiles (FR), with the distance between the two runners at the line 1¼ lengths.

The interference was found to be accidental as Undertheboardwalk (IRE) had ducked sharply left- handed into the whip before being quickly corrected by Murphy, causing Peintre D'etoiles (FR) to be carried left-handed which in turn caused Red Genesis (GB) to be briefly unbalanced.

Following the race, James Doyle reported that Makashi (FR), unplaced, stopped quickly and ran flat.

The Veterinary Officer reported that Peintre D'etoiles (FR), placed second,, lost its left-fore shoe.
