Leaving the stalls Exminster (IRE), placed third, jumped left-handed at the same time as ST ANDREW’S CASTLE, unplaced, jumped right-handed, causing them to make contact and be slow into stride.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Exminster (IRE).
Following the race, Daniel Tudhope reported that Exminster (IRE), placed third, was slowly away, Paul Hanagan reported that International Boy (IRE), placed eighth, hung right-handed throughout, and Paul Mulrennan reported that St Andrew's Castle (GB), unplaced, was never travelling; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.
