Permission was given for I Am A Dreamer (GB) to go early to post, for Smeaton's Light (IRE) to go early and be led to post, for Shoot To Kill (IRE) to be mounted on the course and to wear a red hood which was removed at the start, and for Ancient Times (GB) to wear a red hood which was removed at the start.

Jack Mitchell reported that Prince Of Bel Lir (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling and the representative of Joseph Parr further reported that the gelding was unsuited by the Good to Firm, Good in places going and would prefer more ease in the ground; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post race examination of Prince Of Bel Lir (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
