Permission was given for Baileys Derbyday (GB) to wear ear plugs, which were removed at the start.
Just inside the two-furlong marker Baileys Derbyday (GB), placed fourth, hung left-handed despite the riders’ best efforts to correct the gelding and caused Winklevi (FR), placed fifth, to lose its position after being tightened for room, which in turn resulted in Emiyn (FR), placed second, being inconvenienced when awkwardly positioned on the rail.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved, nor had it improved the placing of Baileys Derbyday (GB).
Following the race; John Egan reported that WINKELVI (FR), placed fifth, ran too free and Andrew Breslin reported that Fandabidozi (IRE), placed third, hung left-handed in the home straight.
