Permission was given for Monomyth (IRE) to go early to post, wearing a red hood and for Mister Mcgregor (IRE) and ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE) to both wear a red hood to post.
Shortly after the start, Bob The Bandit (GB), unplaced, lugged right-handed, at the same time as Bantz (IRE), unplaced, moved slightly left-handed, resulting in Final Angel (IRE), unplaced, becoming unbalanced, when short of room between runners, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 1 furlong after the start, involving Choreographic (GB), unplaced, ridden by Billy Loughnane, Bantz (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Grace McEntee and Final Angel (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Warren Fentiman.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Fentiman was offered the opportunity to be accompanied but declined.
Loughnane was suspended for 2 days for careless riding, in that he moved his mount left-handed when not fully clear of Bantz (IRE), which was carried inwards and caused Final Angel (IRE) which was racing in restricted room to be checked by Fentiman.
Thereafter, Loughnane continued moving left-handed when not fully clear of Bantz (IRE), causing McEntee to be hampered, before he did eventually relieve the pressure and move back to his right.
Approximately 1 furlong after the start, Choreographic (GB), unplaced, shifted sharply right-handed, when being corrected by its rider, briefly impeding Rogue Bullet (IRE), placed fifth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approaching the end of the back straight, Rogue Bullet (IRE), placed fifth, hung left-handed, moving Bantz (IRE), unplaced, into the path of Bob The Bandit (GB), unplaced, which was tightened for room on the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Rogue Bullet (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong, involving Baileys Jubilation (GB), placed second, ridden by Joe Fanning, Mighty Ruler (IRE), placed third, ridden by Charles Bishop and Rogue Bullet (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Hector Crouch.
Fanning was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction, slightly hampering Rogue Bullet (IRE), which in turn lightly brushed Mighty Ruler (IRE).
The winner, ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 28 October 2024, where the filly finished sixth of eight, beaten by 8½ lengths.
It was noted that Alice Haynes’ representative could offer no explanation for the filly’s improved form.
ZIGGY’S ARIEL (IRE) was routine tested.
