The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving Sweet Annathea, ridden by K.J. Manning, unplaced and Phils Wish, ridden by G.F. Carroll, unplaced. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that G.F. Carroll had ridden carelessly and consequently severely cautioned him having taken his previous good record into consideration. R.P. Cleary, rider of Carla's Princess, trained by Noel V.Kennedy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung throughout this race.
