Inside the final furlong, Billy Star (GB), placed second, lugged right-handed taking Hidden Pearl (GB), placed fourth, marginally off its intended line and causing it to make brief contact with Global Wonder (IRE), placed third.
After viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Billy Star (GB).
The performance of Cheng Gong (GB), which started favourite and finished eighth, was considered.
Jack Mitchell reported that the gelding was never travelling and Tom Clover explained that Cheng Gong (GB) may be better suited by the reapplication of blinkers; his explanation was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Cheng Gong (GB) during routine testing found the gelding to be lame on his left-fore leg.
Following the race, Dougie Costello reported that Global Wonder (IRE), placed third, was slowly away.
