An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final three furlongs when Brilliant Riposte (GB), placed seventh, ridden by Michael Pitt, interfered with Captain Marmalade (IRE), placed eighth, ridden by Hayley Turner, which in turn interfered with Full Suit (GB), unplaced, ridden by David Probert.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Pitt was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
Pitt was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed carrying Captain Marmalade (IRE) off its intended line onto Full Suit (GB) which had to be checked significantly by Probert against the rail.
Rounding the final bend, Brilliant Riposte (GB), placed seventh, lugged right-handed taking Bay Dude (GB), unplaced, off its intended line and causing it to make contact with Duhr (IRE), unplaced, on its outside.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Brilliant Riposte (GB).
Following the race, Rossa Ryan reported that Bay Dude (GB), unplaced, suffered interference rounding the final bend, Luke Morris reported that Pivello (GB), placed sixth, hung left-handed throughout, and Kieran Fox reported that Duhr (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Brilliant Riposte (GB), placed seventh, found the gelding to be lame on its right-hind leg.
