The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P.L. Malone, that J. Kearney, rider of Aurora Nova, placed fourth, had weighed in at 10 lbs light. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had weighed out correctly but realised on presenting himself at scales to weigh in that the lead cloth was missing resulting in a 10 lb discrepancy. Andrew McNamara, trainer of Aurora Nova, stated that he had mistakenly left the lead cloth in the stable when saddling his charge. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J. Kearney had weighed in at 10 lbs light and disqualified Aurora Nova from fourth place in accordance with the provisions of Rule 231(i). The amended result now to read; First - Almendares (GB), Second - Heartrate, Third - Billboa (GB), Fourth - Redshore City and Fifth - So Majestic. Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Andrew McNamara was in breach of Rule 36(iii) and Rule 148(i) and fined him €400. Ian Kearney accompanied J. Kearney at this enquiry
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, G.M. Ryan, rider of Old Peculier (GB), trained by Mark Fahey, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was caught wide early, met with interference early in the straight and then ran on well.
