An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start when Peace Prevails (GB), placed eighth, ridden by Shane Kelly, interfered with Minster (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Richard Kingscote, and Percy Prosecco (GB), unplaced, ridden by Kieran Shoemark.
Kelly was cautioned for careless riding as he shifted left when insufficiently clear, carrying Kingscote and Shoemark off their intended lines.
The winner, French Minstrel (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 8 February 2021 where the gelding finished last of eleven, beaten by 16 lengths, before being disqualified.
William Knight’s representative’s explanation that the gelding appreciated the step up in trip from 1 mile 1½ furlongs to 1 mile 4 furlongs and benefited from the first-time application of a visor was noted.
French Minstrel (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Kieran Shoemark reported that Percy Prosecco (GB), unplaced, hung left-handed turning in and Tony Hamilton reported that G For Gabrial (IRE), placed seventh, was denied a clear run on the final bend.
