Ralph Beckett had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Kinross (GB) partially shod.
Permission was given for Final Song (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start and for Watan (GB) to go early to post.
Leaving the stalls, the winner Glorious Journey (GB), jumped left-handed hampering Final Song (IRE), placed second, causing the filly to become short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Glorious Journey (GB).
Approximately one and a half furlongs out, Royal Commando (IRE), unplaced, rolled right-handed for a few strides onto Final Song (IRE), placed second, causing the filly to be checked when attempting to make its run, which in turn caused D’BAI (IRE), placed third, to become short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Kinross (GB), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Ralph Beckett could offer no explanation for the colt’s performance other than a report from the rider that Kinross (GB) lost its action inside the final furlong.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The winner Glorious Journey (GB) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newbury on 15 August 2020 where the gelding finished fifth of nine, beaten by 14 ½ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Charlie Appleby could offer no explanation for Glorious Journey (GB)’s improvement in form on this occasion.
