The Raceday Stewards interviewed C.P O'Shea, rider of General Ryan, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he was in breach of R10 and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that C.P O'Shea was in breach of Regulation 10.3(i)(time to respond) and having considered his record they suspended him for 2 racedays
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the approach to the last fence involving C'est Quelqu'un (FR), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed first, and General Ryan, ridden by C.P O'Shea, placed second, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C.P. O'Shea stated that he had to switch direction when the winner crossed him, but felt it was of little consequence. J.W. Kennedy stated that he moved towards the railing and felt he was clear at the time. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
An extended handicap steeplechase for four years old and upwards rated 0-95 Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each steeplechase won.
