It was bottomless ground in Limerick the last day and he pulled up so we said we’d wait until we got a bit of nicer ground and put a pair of cheek pieces on. There is a fair bit going on up in his head and I think they helped him to concentrate. I wasn’t sure how much battle or fight he’d have but to be fair to him now he got the job done today. It’s a bonus. We knew he had a little bit of ability and he got his conditions today and it was great to come out the right side of the photo finish. He’ll tip away for the summer. He has been placed so many days and he deserved that. It's his second win and he has been pretty consistent, he is a great little horse. He was down the bottom of the handicap and we took seven off with Conor's claim. It's great for Conor, that's his third winner and he is improving away. He probably wants another year of experience under his belt to really get going. He is definitely on the up. That's 41 winners now and it's my best season to date. It was lovely to hit the 40 winners mark the other day. I've been fifth in the trainers table nearly all year and while behind me is something like 18, I'm still miles behind the first four. we picked her up cheaply. She had a good run in Cork on the Flat and when she came up for sale, I thought she might make a summer mare. She is by Canford Cliffs and I thought she would like a bit of nicer ground and her dam (Maontri) was good on the Flat. he has been a good, fun horse and has won five races for us now. He is owned by the Kings Horses Syndicate - I was in school in Kings Hospital in Dublin and a bunch of friends from there own him. We were hoping for a good run, but he had been pretty disappointing to be honest. He had a good run here last year when he was third. He was a bit disappointing in Kilbeggan and then had an okay run in Ballinrobe. Calling a spade a spade, I'd say today wasn't the strongest race in the world and we were lucky it divided. . We might go over fences with him now, run him in a chase off his hurdle mark and see would he be any better. He won today, but made hard work of it. Gavin Kinch is with me for 20 years I'd say, nearly since I started. He has been a lucky owner and while this lad got an injury and was out of action for a while, it's great that we've been able to bring him back and win with him. Gavin has been super supportive for years and I'm delighted to have another winner for him.
