it is great to get that win out of him as we were very disappointed at Tramore but I feel he didn't handle the track and never got going. I told Conor (Stone Walsh) to get him out handy today and keep him on the outer to give him as much light as he could. He has plenty ability but keeps a little for himself so I told Conor to be as positive as he could. He is a summer horse, that's his ideal ground and is a nice horse to have. He had a lot of runs in point-to-points and his first run on the racecourse so maybe that livened him up and he was very good. My Dad (William, a Cheltenham Foxhunters Chase winning jockey) is a farmer and my uncle Eugene trains the horses and everyone works together and it seems to work well. I won the pony race on this card on a serious pony called Murphy Brown here a few years ago. I'm hoping to be a jockey but I'm in college in Cork and will get that done first. my horses have been hitting the cross bar but are running competitively so I can't complain. This horse has always worked nicely but has just taken time. He was impressive but I don't know what the opposition was like so we won't get carried away. I might run him again next week in Tramore. sadly his previous owner P.J. O'Driscoll, from Bandon, passed away last September having shown a lot of patience with the horse. I was expecting him to run well but thought he might have needed it because he hasn't ran since May. We had a little job done with him in May and it seems to have worked. He had been working well at home and we were very happy with him although he is a horse who carries a little bit of condition so can be deceiving. Oliver (Barden, owner) actually mentioned to me today that he was looking on the heavier side but I was happy with him. He is quite gross and always carries a bit of condition. He has been hugely disappointing and has been second and placed I don't know how many times. He has been placed so many days and he deserved that. It's his second win and he has been pretty consistent, he is a great little horse. He was down the bottom of the handicap and we took seven off with Conor's claim. It's great for Conor, that's his third winner and he is improving away. He probably wants another year of experience under his belt to really get going. He is definitely on the up. That's 41 winners now and it's my best season to date. It was lovely to hit the 40 winners mark the other day. I've been fifth in the trainers table nearly all year and while behind me is something like 18, I'm still miles behind the first four.
