FormscanBy John O'Riordan - Denis Hogan's THECOMPANYSERGEANT should be good enough to record a first win over fences. Runner-up in a Grade 3 Novice Chase at Thurles in March, the seven-year-old ran a huge race when fourth in Grade 1 class at Fairyhouse on his next start. Although a beaten favourite at Kilbeggan on his return last month, the gelding may just have needed that run. Genois has yet to win from 12 attempts over fences but the Enda Bolger trained eight-year-old has plenty of valuable experience. Reverting to a beginners chase looks a wise move with a proven handicap performer. Implicit was beaten with over a circuit to run on her chasing debut at Tramore last month. Sent off odds-on for that contest, the Willie Mullins trained mare clearly didn't give her true running.

Quotes on Charlie Luciano (IRE)
He's just special, isn't he, cause he's a slow horse and he probably wants a bit further than that. The race cut up with the divide. . In fairness the owners are very lucky fellas, they've been lucky colours. This fella won four for them last year and they had another mare who won three or four for them as well. . He jumps fences alright so we might try that again. He's up (in the ratings) a bit over hurdles but he can go over hurdles as well. . Jumping helps him a bit, it gives him a little more pace. . He's entered next week but it might be a bit quick, he'll hardly go up much for that run. After Charlie Luciano (IRE) finished 1st at Fairyhouse on Fri, 7th Jun 2024 1m 4f Flat Hcap Good

Quotes on Drop The Anchor (IRE)
He was tough, it's great that he came back to himself as he was struggling to get his form back. He was running well but not getting anywhere and a lot of my horses were doing the same. That kind of makes up for the whole summer because I had very few horses to run. Between one thing and another it was quiet and to get this last big handicap, I can't believe it. He ground it out well. Niall gave him some ride because often times he can lose his races out of the gates. No matter what schooling you did it made no difference. On better ground he can't get it back but today the ground gave him a chance, when he came out the rest of them weren't gone on him. He's in all summer so we'll see what plans Frank has. I don't know where Dunvegan finished but I just didn't have him ready enough. Chris was delighted with him but he just gave a blow half way up when he needed him. He's a big giant of a horse and that will put him right for another day. After Drop The Anchor (IRE) finished 1st at Naas on Sun, 6th Nov 2022 2m Flat Hcap Heavy

Quotes on Genois (FR)
He’s a nice horse and the nicer ground today was a help. I thought it might be too holding but the lads said it’s better on the hurdle course than the chase track. He’ll get further as well so hopefully we’ll find something for him in the next month or so and end up going to Punchestown for a race. He’s a chaser down the line and I’m chuffed with that. After Genois (FR) finished 1st at Naas on Sun, 28th Feb 2021 1m 7f Maiden Hurdle Yielding to Soft

Quotes on The Big Doyen (IRE)
Fair play to the lads as they had to make the call not to sell him after he won two bumpers. He enjoys being left alone to bowl along in front and in fairness to Kevin he always said to step him up in distance but I couldn't see it myself because he was so keen over two-miles. Last winter he didn't go on the heavy ground and it wasn't working out for us. He went up in trip and letting him bowl along in races has suited and he wants nice ground. I think he will be a cracking horse over fences but we'll see where things go over hurdles first. He is electric to jump and I think will be the same over fences. He is a nice horse going forward. this is great for the lads, they're having great craic from it and hopefully they get plenty luck with him. We've had a great week, some of my horses ran moderately but had genuine excuses and we'll definitely enjoy tonight! After The Big Doyen (IRE) finished 1st at Galway on Thu, 3rd Aug 2023 2m 4f Hurdle Good to Yielding

Quotes on Thecompanysergeant (GB)
To be honest Galway was a rush job and he missed ten days two weeks out from the race and I shouldn't have really gone there but it was the aim for a long time. It was a mistake by me to send him,. He definitely took a blow in the dip there in a very competitive race, this was calmer waters, and he needed to be 110 percent going into it but was probably just short. I didn't have to do much after that, that put him right. He's come here against a lesser grade and won well. He's a lovely horse, the last day is the first day he was ever out of the money. He wasn't expensive as a store and he's been a really good servant to us and hopefully he's got another good year ahead. He's still a novice up until Christmas so we'll try and exploit that if we can. After Thecompanysergeant (GB) finished 1st at Kilbeggan on Fri, 25th Aug 2023 2m 3f Hurdle Soft

Quotes on Implicit (FR)
The pilot was very good again, as he usually is. It looked like they went very hard, Paul dropped her in got her relaxed and came with one run. Obviously he just got there and I thought it was a brilliant ride. I don’t know what way it would have gone if the horse didn’t run out, but she’s improving. I’d imagine she’ll go to Punchestown and you’ll probably see her through the summer as well, she should go on better ground. After Implicit (FR) finished 1st at Fairyhouse on Mon, 1st Apr 2024 2m Hcap Hurdle Heavy
