Percy Warner made a successful 'track' debut when running out a game winner of the Irish Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle at Navan for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy.

The Ocovango gelding had won a point-to-point at Umma House in October before being picked up by current connections for £100,000 at the sales last month.

Kennedy settled behind the leaders on the 15/8 shot in today's two-mile contest before moving up to challenge at the second last flight.

He wore down 5/4 favourite Flanking Maneuver on the run-in to secure a three-parts-of-a-length victory with the front pair pulling nicely clear.

“He did it very well. He probably wants a bit further but he's not slow either,” said Kennedy.

“We went steady the whole way and sprinted down over the last two. He's a lovely horse and it's great for his owner Basil Holian, he's a new owner to Gordon so it's nice to get a winner for him.

“It wasn't a bad race and he's a lovely horse.”
