Plenty of talk before this one was for the Adrian Maguire trained Let Yourself Go but that one could only manage to fill the runners up spot 21-lengths behind a very impressive Give It Time who benefited from a very enterprising ride by Mark Bolger.
Give It Time was previously campaigned on a lot tougher underfoot conditions and the `soft, yielding to soft in places' ground may have been one factor in this performance. Bolger sent the Jessica Harrington trained mare to the front just beyond half way and from there he established a lead which extended the further they went and she will be now aimed at a Listed mares hurdle over two miles or possibly two and a half.
Let Yourself Go was delayed going to the start after a nail twisted in his shoe but once that was rectified he followed down the remainder of the field and that had no reflection on this run he was just no match for the winner on the day.
Adrian Maguire's charge had Point-To-Point and bumper winning form on his only two starts to date and a bad mistake at the fifth hurdle and then at the last didn't help his hurdling debut. He got into a battle with Pink Suitcase for second place which he duly won but for those who were responsible for backing the latter from odds of 66/1 into an SP of 16/1 it was a profitable day and it was a nice racecourse debut for that one.
JP McManus recently obtained Meritorious from the ownership of Arthur Moore and he was well backed to make a winning debut for his new owner but never really challenged and finished nearly 45 lengths off the winner at the death.
Tony Martin's All The Cousins ran on late to be eight for a third consecutive time and he should be capable of landing a blow over further.
Barry Geragthy reported to the Stewards Secretary the his mount The Mighty Miller "tired on the ground in the latter stages."
