A cracking finish to this maiden hurdle which saw eventual winner Silver Palm have Pin D'Estruval and Cler in a line upsides with just 150 yards remaining and it was claimer Sean Flanagan who was having his 30th winner who saw off the challenge of the Davy Russell and Ruby Walsh ridden mounts.
Liz Doyle trained this one on behalf of the Durkan family and Flanagan tracked the leaders on this grey son of Great Palm and despite having been headed by favourite Pin D'Estruval at the last, the five-year-old Silver Palm rallied to deny Cler who came from a long way back to claim second spot.
Pin D'Estruval was all the rage before hand in the ring and went off the 1/1 money favourite and favourite backers looked to be home and hosed but it wasn't to be and he had to settle for third spot.
Cler had just three behind going past the stands with a circuit to go and was an improving fourth two out but despite an apparent perfectly timed patient ride by Ruby Walsh he was unable to see off the gutsy winner.
