Another dramatic turn of events on the run-in but this time Ruby Walsh was on the receiving end as his mount ROSY CYBORG was caught close home having held what appeared an unassailable lead after two out. The 2/7 favourite set a good pace and victory seemed assured as he still travelled strongly at least ten lengths ahead entering the straight. Walsh only showed a few distress signals with the margin halved approaching the last but, after steading his mount into the flight and landing flat footed, Follow The Plan launched a timely challenge to get up virtually on the line.

FOLLOW THE PLAN won a point-to-point last November and showed some promise since in bumpers and a maiden hurdle but this represented a big step up in form. On the strength of this performance, he should be well suited by an extra couple of furlongs and has the scope to do well over fences in time.

You would need a strong pair of binoculars to spot the remainder of what are probably a quite modest bunch, although French flat import ANYAAB, having his second run over hurdles after missing all of last year, is capable of winning at least in handicap company. He failed to trouble the principals from before the straight.
